Reliance JioFiber broadband launch by Diwali, to offer 100GB data at Rs 500

Reliance Jio’s JioFiber broadband service for homes will likely be launched around Diwali, and the company plans to offer data at rates that could disrupt the home broadband market.
Reliance Jio’s home broadband service will start in Diwali and the company could offer 100GB data at just Rs 500.
In May, Reliance Jio’s official Twitter handle had tweeted saying the JioFiber Preview Offer is currently being offered on a trial basis in some cities.
Reliance Jio’s Twitter handle had tweeted this out, “The JioFiber Preview Offer has currently being launched in select areas of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara. Our network is in the process of being rolled out to other cities.”
In September last year there were reports of JioFiber being tested out with 100Mbps speeds in some cities. JioFiber has already been testing out its services in Chennai, Mumbai. However, one of the challenges for the JioFiber network has been getting permission to enter gated colonies.
While the exact launch date for JioFiber remains unknown, there’s no doubt the company is going to go for the disruptive pricing model, just like it did with the Jio mobile network.
To compare, rivals like Airtel currently are offering customers 1000GB data free for a whole year if they sign up for the broadband service via online.
Airtel is currently offering customers 60 GB data for  Rs 899, though with the bonus data this is extended to 750 GB data free for a period of one year. Airtel’s Rs 1099 plan, which has 40Mbps speed offers 90 GB data per month, with 1000 GB data free for one year. Airtel’s Rs 1,299 plan is the one that offers 100 Mbps speeds, with 125 GB data per month, and 1000 GB data free for the period of one year.
However the free data offer is limited only to the NCR region. Other broadband providers like ACT have started offering 1GB per second internet speeds in the city of Hyderabad with 1TB download limit at a rental price of Rs 5,999. ACT has also expanded operations to Delhi and is offering 100 Mbps speeds.

But if JioFiber launches 100GB data at Rs 500 for fixed lines at home, it could cause new disruption in the market. We’ll have to wait and see if the Diwali launch timeline turns out to be true.

Asus Zenfone Live Review

Asus has launched a new handset called the Asus Zenfone Live. This quad core powered handset is priced at Rs. 9,999
The Asus Zenfone Live is very light weight handset and made for selfie lovers. It is packed with decent snapdragon hardware SD 400, that delivers decent performance. Key highlight is the Beauty Live app that provides real time beautification for videos.
This handset supports 4G with Volte. The battery of 2650 mAh capacity seems quite less though one should get a decent battery life on a full charge.

Inside the box: Handset, data cable, user manual, warranty card and travel charger 5.2V/1A
Body: Plastic with metallic finishing – excellent build
SIM Type: Hybrid – Nano + Nano / Micro SD
Weight and Dimensions: 120 Grams
Screen: 5 inches with 2.5D curved glass supporting 1280 x 720-pixel resolution
Connectivity: 4G, volte, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth
Sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity, Magnetic, Light. Gyro Sensor is missing

RAM: 2GB (1GB free)
ROM: 16GB (11GB free)
Micro SD: 128GB MAX
Asus Zenfone Live Benchmark
Antutu: 27336 / 971
NenaMark2: 55.3 fps
Multi Touch: 10 points
Disk Speed: 110/36
I tried Asphalt 8 games played really well, no lags and no issues as such.
Rear Camera: 13MP AF with f/2.0 aperture, Single Led flash
Front Camera: 5MP with Large 1.4µm Pixel Sensor for 2x light sensitivity, f/2.2 aperture
Video Recording: Max FHD 1920 x 1080p
Overall camera quality is average. This handset can shoot FHD videos and the video quality is pretty good.
There is a special app called beauty live you can use that app to live stream video on YouTube / Facebook / Instagram. This app allows you to change the beauty filter in real time – you can choose from 1 to 10 pre-defined modes.
Sound was loud, no issues using Reliance Jio, in call sound was also good. There is no finger print sensor.

Asus Zenfone Live is looks good, give premium feel, is light weight and heat-up is well under control. Camera is average and so is the battery life. Not sure if Selfie lovers would actually will use the live video beautification mode. But if you look at the price of Zenfone Live – Rs. 9,999 it is way too pricey for the outdated hardware they have used

With the phone going on sale in June. Xiaomi is already in talks with Flipkart and Amazon to flesh out launch deals, which should include some loyalty programs, and buyback schemes.
The phone which has been announced to be available in 11 colors will see at least 3 of those colors in India at launch. What is different is that magical “infinity display” on the new Samsung phones does not exist on the new Xiaomi Mi 6 and instead of taking their approach with the Mix further, Xiaomi has launched the Mi 6 with a standard  5.15-inch, 1080px resolution LCD display.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 has been announced in two variants, one for RMB 2499 ( Rs. 23445 approx) which will launch in India for Rs. 26999 although the company is trying to ensure they can sell for Rs. 25999. The Ceramic variant which costs RMB 2999 (Rs. 28153 approx) will not come to India.

The new Xiaomi Mi 6  integrates four-sided 3D curved glass and a stainless steel frame for an impressive build, along with splash resistance, a first for a “flagship killer”.
The phone also boasts of incredible camera capabilities, thanks to the dual camera setup  which consists of dual 12 MP cameras, much like the iPhone 7 Plus, one camera is a wide lens while the other a telephoto lens, allowing for optical zoom capabilities. The cameras also have 4 axis optical image stabilisation.
The ceramic variant of the Mi 6 does offer up 128GB storage for now the phone has been launched in Black, White, Blue and Silver, and Ceramic with 18-karat gold camera rims.

Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer Launched:

Reliance Jio Revives Summer Surprise Offer

Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer Launched: Reliance Jio Revives Summer Surprise Offer

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Reliance Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer provides 3 months of free services
  • Tariffs for the new Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer are Rs. 309 and Rs. 509
  • Non-Jio Prime users can also avail the benefits of the new offer

After cancelling the Jio Summer Surprise offer due to a TRAI recommendation, Reliance Jio has brought it back to life as the new Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. With the new promotional offer, Jio users will be able to avail free services – including unlimited data, free SMSs, and Jio apps subscription – for three months. Under the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, the Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 recharge packs will provide 1GB and 2GB of 4G data per day, respectively.

Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer

The Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is aimed at customers who were unable to avail the Jio Summer Surprise offerbenefits before it was pulled officially, as well as new customers. In order to get the benefits of the new offer, users need to subscribe to Jio Primemembership plan. Those who are already part of the Jio Summer Surprise promotion will not get the benefits of Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer.
Jio Prime users will be able to get the free Reliance Jio services for three months with the Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 recharges. Customers who are yet to sign up for Jio Prime or who are new users will have to buy the Rs. 408 (Rs. 99 Jio Prime subscription + Rs. 309 pack) or Rs. 608 (Rs. 99 + Rs. 509) recharge in order to get the free services for three cycles of 28 days. Once you buy the recharge, you get the free Reliance Jio services for 84 days (3 x 28 days). The tariffs are only marginally more expensive than the original recharge values of Rs. 303 and Rs. 499 for the 1GB and 2GB data benefits, respectively.
The Jio.com website and MyJio app show that the actual tariffs for the Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 recharge are Rs. 349 and Rs. 549, but the operator is giving a Rs. 40 discount at present. Reliance Jio has not announced whether there is a last date to sign up for Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer.
With the Jio Summer Surprise offer, customers get free services till July, after which their recharge of Rs. 303 or higher value kicks in. Reliance Jio has not yet clarified whether the Rs. 309 or Rs. 509 pack they paid for comes into effect in July with the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer as well, though that is likely to be the case.
One major difference between the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer and the summer offer is that customers had the option to buy recharges of Rs. 999 or higher values - which provided no daily FUP - with the latter, but there is not such option with the former.
Reliance Jio promised to withdraw the Jio Summer Surprise offer after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said that it should be pulled as it does not comply with the existing regulatory framework. The country's youngest telco on Thursday agreed to cancel the offer, but continue enrollments till four days later. However, with the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, customers will be able to continue enjoying the free services till June, the same as those of Jio Summer Surprise offer users.

Jio settop box images leaked online

after making a dent in the telecom sector, it seems Jio now has its eyes set on the DTH services in the country as images of Jio’s Set Top Box (STB) have surfaced online.
Images of Reliance Jio Set Top Box leak online
A couple of images of Jio’s STB have leaked online. This STB is rectangle in shape and black in color. At the front, Jio has provided a USB port so that users can plug-in their USB drives. At the back, there are various connectivity ports like HDMI port, RJ-45 port, USB port and a cable-in port. The device is seemingly made in Indonesia and manufactured by Samindo Electronics. You can also see the audio-video cables being attached at the back of the STB.

Reliance Jio Users to Get 2GB Data per Day With Rs. 499 Plan on Enrolling for Jio Prime Membership Before April 16

Reliance Jio recently announced the Jio Summer Surprise plan, which will extend the free 4G services for another three months. At the time of the announcement, Jio did not reveal the detailed tariff schemes. Instead, it said that the users who recharge with Rs. 303 plan or above will get additional three months of free 4G services.
jio
Yesterday, Jio updated their website with the new Summer Surprise pack details giving us some insights about the same. And there’s a surprise here. As per the announcement, users will get only 1GB data per day under the new Summer offer. But that applies only to customers who recharge with the Rs. 303 plan. Jio, in its press statement, said that the summer plan would be applicable only with the recharges of above Rs. 303.
Users who recharge with the Rs. 499 plan will be rewarded with 2GB data per day, which is same as the previous plan. We have approached Jio customer care, and they have also confirmed the same. That said, users can get 2GB of 4G data daily for free for four months at just Rs. 598, which is way better than other telecom operators offers. The Summer plan will conclude on June 30 after which; the paid recharge plan will be applicable.
At the same time, there’s some confusion for users who have already recharged with the Rs. 149 plan. For those customers to enjoy the free benefits for another three months, they will have to either recharge with the Rs. 303 or Rs. 499 plan before April 15.
Jio Summer Offer Plans
For instance, if a customer recharges with two tariff plans of Rs. 149 and Rs. 499 or Rs. 303 and Rs. 499, benefits of the highest plan would be applied for the first three months and post the free offer period, benefits of the first recharge pack will be applicable, i.e., from July 1 to July 28.
Do make a note that the summer offer plans will be effective from April 16 and till then; users can enjoy the same Jio Happy New Plan benefits of 1GB data per day and unlimited voice calls.
Jio also stated that the international roaming tariff plans would be rolled out on April 15. Another important point to be noted is that there won’t be any unlimited data offers during night hours, i.e., from 2 AM to 5 AM. And, the last date for unlimited night data will end on April 15.
Other data plans such as Rs. 51 and Rs. 301 will continue to offer the same benefits as earlier. Which plan will you enroll now?

If you don't have Aadhaar number, soon your phone will not work

All mobile phone numbers in the country, whether pre-paid or post, will be linked to Aadhaar number in the coming months. This is a mandatory exercise ordered by government. Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has sent a notice to telecom operators that all phone numbers in the country needs to be re-verified using e-KYC processes powered by Aadhaar card. Any unverified number, or any number that is not linked to a Aadhaar number will be illegal in India after February 6, 2018.
The DoT directive, issued on March 23, notes that the Supreme court "while taking into cognizance of Aadhaar based e-KYC process for issuing new telephone connections has inter-alia observed that an effective process has been evolved to ensure identity verification, as well as, the addresses of all mobile phone subscribers for new subscribers. In near future, and more particularly within one year from today, a similar verification will be completed, in case of existing subscribers." The directive was first noticed by Medianama.
The directive then says that following the court ruling, a meeting was held in which it was decided that Aadhaar number will be mandatory for mobile phone users.
"A meeting was held on 13.02.2017 in the Department with the telecom industry wherein UIDAI, TRAI and PMO representatives also participated to discuss the way forward to implement the directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court,"  notes the DoT directive.
It then says that telecom operators will notify mobile users about the re-verification process through all means possible, including by advertisements in newspapers. It also says that telecom operators must come with methods so that there are no long queues when they carry out the re-verification exercise. "The licensee shall follow the above instructions strictly and should complete the re-verification exercise of existing subscribers before 06.02.2018," notes the DoT directive.
The move comes a day after Lok Sabha passed the Finance Bill, with an amendment that makes Aadhaar mandatory for filing tax returns. This year when you file the tax returns, you will also have to quote your Aadhaar number along with the PAN number. In fact, all PAN cards in the country will have to be linked to Aadhaar or else they will be cancelled. A few days ago, UGC also asked universities in the country to degrees to students only after they have submitted their Aadhaar numbers.

Redmi 4A or the Redmi 3S? Which one to buy

The Redmi 4A is here at Rs. 5,999 and the Redmi 3S is already selling for Rs. 6,999. There is a Rs. 1,000 difference, both are very good handsets so which one should you buy, the Redmi 4A or the Redmi 3S?

Redmi 4A Vs Redmi 3S

There are some minor specs difference, and Redmi 4A body is plastic whereas Redmi 3S body is metal. 4A is light weight (131 grams) and powered by Snapdragon 425 quad core chipset and 3S is slightly heavier (145 grams) than 4A and powered by Snapdragon  430 octa core processor. Both are 64 bit chipsets.

Looking at the benchmark scores you can see that Redmi 3S scores higher and even in real life scenario 3S does better when using heavy apps like Games. In simple words if you are gaming user then go with Redmi 3S.
For other users it does not matter if they go with Redmi 4A or the Redmi 3S.
3S camera is better with f/2.0 compared with Redmi 4A that comes with f/2.2 aperture.
In general Redmi 4A feels really good to use, cause of the size and weight. Also heatup is less on both handsets.
The battery of the Redmi 3s is bigger then the 4A

Sony has finally unveiled its new Xperia range for 2017 which includes two flagships, the Xperia XZs and Xperia XZ Premium with improved cameras

MWC 2017: Sony's new 'Motion Eye'camera can capture slow-mo at 960fps

MWC 2017: Sony's new 'Motion Eye'camera can capture slow-mo at 960fps

Sony has finally unveiled its new Xperia range for 2017 which includes two flagships, the Xperia XZs and Xperia XZ Premium with improved cameras.

Both the smartphones will be hitting markets in April and feature Sony’s ‘Motion Eye’ smartphone camera. According to Sony, the new camera can record 960fps slow motion video which is 4x slower than current smartphone cameras, though slow-mo is captured only at 720p. There is also an anti-distortion shutter which minimizes rolling shutter and a unique memory-stacked sensor.

The camera has a 19MP sensor (1/2.3-inch), a 25mm f/2.0 lens, a dual-tone flash, predictive and laser autofocus and an RGBC-IR sensor for natural color rendering. The camera can record 4K video with SteadyShot 5-axis digital stabilization.

The front camera on the Xperia XZs and the XZ Ultra have also been updated as they have been borrowed from the Xperia XZ, which is a 13MP (1/3.06-inch) sensor with a 22mm wide-angle lens.

Coming to the devices itself, the Xperia XZ Premium will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch 4K screen with HDR support and Triluminos display, which is 40 percent brighter than the Z5 Premium panel. There is a “Glass Loop Surface” (Gorilla Glass 5) that covers the whole phone, and the phone is waterproof (IP68).  It will run on Android 7.0 out of the box, will have a 3,230mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 and USB Type-C.

The Xperia XZs is an update to the late 2016-flagship. It’s the same device as last year, but gets the new Motion Eye camera. So expect a Snapdragon 820 SoC, more RAM (4GB), a 5.2-inch 1080p display while rest of the hardware is same as the XZ from last year

Google Assistant to be soon available on Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 6.0 Marshmallow smartphones

access to the famous Google Assistant, here is a Good News for you. Google is all set to roll out its virtual assistant to Android smartphones that run on Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Once limited to Google Pixel phones, the virtual assistant will begin rolling out this week to English users in the US, followed by English in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as German speakers in Germany.

The search engine giant further states that the Assistant will automatically come to eligible Android phones running Nougat and Marshmallow with Google Play Services. The first smartphone that came with the Google Assistant is none other than LG G6 followed by Motorola Moto G5 and G5 Plus. Also, the newly launched Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 will also come pre-loaded with Google Assistant
For those who are not aware, Google Assistant is Google's own AI-based voice assistant which was first introduced on Google's Allo app launched last year. Google Assistant can search anything on the web, perform certain tasks and even respond to various queries placed before it. It can discover content on certain apps such as YouTube or can even control the lighting from your smartphone.

With this Google is trying to give a stiff competition to the other virtual assistants out there in the market. As tech giants are heavily promoting their own AI assistants such as Siri, Cortana and Alexa, it would be interesting to see how well Google will be able to integrate its latest virtual assistant to a huge user’s base or not.

How to Buy an SD Card: Speed Classes, Sizes, and Capacities Explained

SD Card: Speed Classes, Sizes, and Capacities Explained
Getting yourself in a memory card muddle and not sure which card to buy? We look at memory card speeds and the fastest memory card on the market to help explain the differences so you can find out what’s the best card for you.
Not sure what the difference is between a £50 Class 2 SD and a £450 Class 10 SDHC memory card? We’ve split them up into their categories and broken down the speed jargon by translating it into real speed ratings so you can decide if a certain memory card is worth the extra money.
SD card types
SD, SDHC and SDXC
As SD cards have begun to physically shrink down in size over the years, the SD card can be considered the ‘full-size’ variant. It’s typically what is used in most modern digital cameras and nearly all laptops will come equipped with an SD card reader slot.
Where things can become confusing is when you see ‘SDHC’ and ‘SDXC’. The first stands for ‘Secure Digital High Capacity’. This was initially introduced to cover SD cards with a capacity above 2GB and below 32GB. The latter stands for ‘Secure Digital eXtra Capacity’, which go far beyond 32GB in size. You can buy SDXC cards with a whopping 2TB of storage.
SD, SDHC and SDXC all physically look the same, therefore they’ll all fit in a regular SD card slot. Problems might arise depending on the device you’re looking to use them in. Older devices that pre-date SDXC’s introduction might therefore not be compatible, so be sure to check your product’s specifications. Devices are backwards compatible, so an SDXC-compatible device can use SDHC and SD cards. An SDHC-compatible device can use SDHC and SD cards, but will not be able to use SDXC cards.
MiniSD and MiniSDHC
The MiniSD was the first miniaturisation of the SD card and is around half the height of the original SD card. You can also find miniSDHC cards, which expanded storage to 4GB. Again, you’ll need to make sure your device specifically supports miniSDHC rather than just miniSD. The miniSD card never gained much traction, however, so devices that use it are relatively uncommon. Often, miniSD cards will come with an adaptor that can convert it into a full-size SD card, which makes it easier to use with laptop card readers.
MicroSD, MicroSDHC and MicroSDXC
The microSD is the smallest version. You might have also seen it referred to as TransFlash or abbreviated as a TF card. MicroSD cards, as the name implies, are physically tiny and came about predominantly to be used in smartphones that would benefit from a much smaller card.
Like the full-size SD card, there are also microSDHC and microSDXC variants that expanded the storage beyond the initial limitations. Right now, the largest microSDXC available is 128GB, which isn’t as much as the largest SDXC card but then you’re limited by the physical size of the card. When buying a microSD, microSDHC or microSDXC card you’ll usually get a full-size SD card adaptor as well. Again, SDXC-compatible devices will be backwards compatible with microSDHC and microSD cards, and microSD cards can be used in microSDHC devices.
 SD card speed classes
The next area of confusion is around speed classes. These are how different SD, miniSD and microSD cards are rated in terms of read and write speeds. These are important particularly when the cards are used in camcorders or action cameras as the speed of the card will limit the video resolution and bit rate you’re able to record. High-resolution and high bit rate video requires a lot of data to be written to the card very quickly. Still cameras with high resolutions and fast burst shooting will also take modern cards to their limits.
The SD Association devised a way to standardise the speed ratings for different cards. These are defined as ‘Speed Class’ and refer to the absolute minimum sustained write speeds. Cards can be rated as Class 2 (minimum write speed of 2MB/s), Class 4 (4MB/s), Class 6 (6MB/s) or Class 10 (10MB/s). It’s important to note that these are the minimum, so it’s entirely possible a card can achieve faster speeds but these give you an impression of the least you can expect.
Many SD card manufacturers will also list a specific speed alongside the Class rating. This means a card can be Class 10 but also be listed as ‘up to 80MB/s’. The wording is important, as that’s the best you can expect but not necessarily what you’ll always achieve. You might also see a description such as ‘533x’. This refers to a multiplication of the speed of an old CD-ROM (150KB/s). So in this case 533 x 0.15 = 80MB/s (as there are 1,000KB in a MB). On any type of SD card, the Class rating is denoted by a number inside of a C symbol.
UHS Speed Class
The next rating is the UHS Speed Class. This stands for Ultra High Speed and refers to minimum sustained writing performance for recording video. UHS came about due to 4K-capable video devices needing faster write speeds.
The SD Association has two UHS Speed Classes, UHS Speed Class 1 and UHS Speed Class 3. UHS Speed Class 1 supports a minimum 10MB/s write speed, whereas UHS Speed Class 3 supports at least 30MB/s write speed. The UHS Speed Class is denoted by either a 1 or 3 inside of a bucket U symbol. As a rule of thumb, 4K-capable camcorders will usually require at least a U3 rated SD card.
UHS Bus Speed
Things get a little more confusing as UHS Speed Class-rated devices will also use one of two UHS Bus Interfaces that indicates the theoretical maximum read and write speeds. They’ll be listed as either UHS-I or UHS-II to show which interface is used. UHS-I devices have a maximum read speed of 104MB/s, whereas a UHS-II card has a maximum read speed of 312MB/s. Note, that unlike the UHS Speed Class, these are not sustained speeds.
Buying the right SD card
It might sound obvious, but the safest way to make sure you buy the correct card is to first consult your product’s user guide or specifications, at least to be sure if your device takes full-size SD or microSD cards. Checking before you buy an SD card is particularly important if your device has specific requirements, such as many 4K camcorders. These will usually explicitly state what type of memory card is required in order to record at the top resolution or bit rate. The Sony FDR-X1000V action camera, for example, clearly states that it needs a Class 10 U3 microSD card in order to record in 4K.

If you’re not recording in 4K, the speed might not be so important. A faster-rated card will still be useful if you’re using the card to expand the storage in a smartphone or laptop, as a faster read and write speed will make it more responsive. Faster cards in a still image camera will also mean being able to take more or faster photos in burst mode, as these can be written to the card far quicker. Class 10 cards are usually not much more expensive so it’s worth paying the extra.
